Actually, a lot of IP holders win claim constructions and PTAB hearings. If an infringer gives up early, it is not the strength of the case, it is a low settlement offer accepted. It seems that is the case here, any settlement is better than going for the throat against an infringer. Ok, but no home runs with that strategy. I believe these patents are infringed by Fire TV, which is going to be a huge business for Amazon. An 8 figure settlement is low for giving Amazon the tech to run it. JMO, of course.
