They own shares of the company when the shares are in the ETF. I don't think it's more complicated than that. Most ETF's have rules about how many shares of any one particular company they can own, but why that would be a problem for our Management I don't know. We have plenty of outstanding shares to go around.

As far as I know FF being sold off of the GDXJ was a BAD thing, not a good thing. It damn sure didn't help the share price move higher.
