That's all good, but what you're talking about is total return, not free shares and the proof is the government is taxing you on those even though you're re-investing.
I have no problem with your strategy, however, I did want to correct your terminology or belief that your shares are "free".
Again, in the past I have found some companies that will give you a discount to the share price if you hold the shares with them. Now THOSE, would be free.

Just my opinion, of course.
