gfp: I don't see what the alternative is. There is no possibility of compromise between the ultra liberal leftists who drive the democrat bus these days, and the weak backbone republicans. Look at the Occasional-Cortex "Liberal Manifesto". Open borders, full welfare benefits for illegals, closing jails and giving full welfare to the "previously incarcerated", rent control countrywide, guaranteed $38,000 a year income...it goes on and on. The reality is that one party Democrat ruled states like California and big cities like Chicago and New York make it too easy for these liberal whack jobs to get elected and stay in office. Idiots like Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, the Squad, this Schiff asshole, Pelosi, etc. That's not going to change. The mostly sane parts of America need to shed these liberal bastions and their influence in our politics. We would become smaller and weaker as individual countries. But I'm willing to live with that potential outcome. The beneficial flip side is that these smaller countries that we become will not be wasting 1/2 of the country's GDP on armies, never ending wars, nation building, and being the world policeman. We can't afford it. It's destroying the country fiscally and morally. We need a National Divorce. I would look forward to living in a Central State Nation from Idaho to the Dakotas and down through the Rockies and the Plains, adding Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. Louisiana could join that group or join a coalition of Southern States. The Midwest/Great Lakes States could form a country. The Northeast could become its own mostly liberal Country. So basically 5 countries. Most of them could be self sufficient regarding food. Each country could choose the level of government they want. How much welfare. How much subsidizing of the "poor". How much law enforcement. How much surveillance. How much for defense. But no centralized Deep State controlled Washington DC, that fleeces the citizens and allows the Deep State Insiders to get unbelievably rich and enjoy nearly 100% immunity from scrutiny and prosecution. The country is finished. But most of us can still rescue our standard of living. If we wait until national Bankruptcy and the resulting civil strife (if not outright warfare) then it will be too late.
