Energy forum kicks off in Albanian capital

TIRANA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Energy Expo and Forum kicked off here on Friday with the focus on innovations and future projects on energy in the Albanian, regional and wider market.

Expocity Albania organizes the event, its third edition, with the support of the Albanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and other companies operating in the field of energy.

According to the organizers, the main topic in this edition will be renewable energy considering the fact that Albania is among the countries where the bulk of energy is produced from renewable sources.

Other topics to be addressed include efficiency of energy use, environment-friendly planning, climate developments, and construction technology in function of energy conservation etc.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kristofer Gustafsson, deputy general director of Bankers Petroleum (BP) in Albania, announced its investment plan in the country.

"We plan to spend 250 million U.S. dollars this year and expect to produce 870,000 tons of oil," said Gustafsson. Enditem
