It appears that Chimera uses "alternative data" to inform its investment decisions. In the case of a retailer, alternative data might include credit card spending data, traffic counters or even satellite images of parking lots. As a result, I assume Chimera has gathered multiple data points that indicate strong same-store sales trends for the current quarter. I am speculating of course.
