They would reproduce for a time but eventually become extinct



They would not reproduce at all. Bombyx mori has been selectively bred for over 4000 years to be completely dependent on human care. They would die after a day or 2 even if placed on a mulberry tree. They would not be able to climb from leaf to leaf to stay alive and the change of environmental factors from day to night might kill them in a few hours. There is no risk of escape. They can't even escape from their shallow bamboo baskets.
