Horseshit. The reach of presidential campaign media is as national as is the media itself. There is nothing preventing the people in the grey areas from turning out as they normally would.

The argument also overlooks the larger turnout for Senate and House seats in a presidential cycle. Why would the people in the grey areas turn out any less for those?

Calling the electoral college democratic ignores the meaning of the word and the operation of that archaic body, in practice.
