Silver and Gold Eagles along with pre-64 silver coins are also considered "numismatic" and at least in the past have been exempt from confiscation, and as you say harder to counterfeit, much more trusted, hence more easily bartered with.

For those reasons I have already sold all of my bullion bars and rounds.
