Are you saying that just 4000 patients might generate $240 million in revenues? That would be $60,000 per year per patient or $5000 per month. I know Americans spend a lot on medical care, but I think that would be considered price gouging unless they can prove it really costs a few thousand dollars to produce a month's supply.
Here during this election cycle both parties are scrutinizing expensive medicines and looking at ways to fix it. If that's the only basis for the price rise, it makes me nervous.
I may be wrong, but here in the US I see EPP as the big profit maker. Once it is approved, doctors will be able to prescribe it for off-label (cosmetic) use. Tanning is a $5 Billion market in the US, plus another $2 Billion for the sunblock lotion market. Clinuvel could take a chunk out of those markets.
