Yep, it is the new retail trend, like Empire outlets and he re-done Houston "destinations" and Ballston Quarter they are changing the gears.

Across the country these projects opening/near-opening turning them more upscale, and more cultured with the ability to have live music, fine restaurants, clubs etc, each with its own niche.

Hopefully going forward we are going to be in them all, we are in everyone that opened the last year, some especially in Texas are off the chain. Cities are even putting a lot into them with infrastructure and new transportation lines, like Empire Outlets in NYC the Ferry's specifically running from Manhattan for free so that the 10's of thousands of international/national tourists that visit NYC a year can spend a the day there.

When these things are fully top filled operational and clicking its more like a place one can plan to spend a day or an afternoon rather than just shop.

The traditional mall for the most part is going to die a slow death.

This article where they are dumping a ton of $$ in the Westfield in Paramus explains in a nutshell what has/is happening around the country. IMHO is great, less stores, but higher traffic on a more constant basis.
