I guess it depends on when the shares that need to be covered were shorted. Also in my experience with AX*XA it’s best to have that short squeeze before stock ends up on the Reg. Sho. list as once the stock ends up on that list the market makers will systematically short a little each day to cover the amount of shares they need to cover each day without letting the share price appreciate at all.
