AFRR news..American Fire Retardant Reiterates Non-Use of PBDE Chemical
Business Wire - September 29, 2003 09:48
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 2003--American Fire Retardant Corp. (OTCBB:AFRR) today reiterated the fact that they do not and never have used PBDE chemicals in their fire retardants. Several forms of PBDE, a chemical fire retardant commonly used in foam furniture called polybrominated diphenyl ether, were banned this summer by California, with the ban taking effect in 2008.

Stephen F. Owens, President of AFRC, says, "As we stated in our January 31, 2003 press release, we have never used PBDE chemicals in our fire retardant products and we do not advocate their use. We are issuing this press release to assure our shareholders that this ban has no effect on our company because it has never been part of our formulas."

Mr. Owens concluded by saying, "All of our products are non-toxic and are environmentally friendly, including TreeSafe, which will be available this Christmas season for consumers to protect their Christmas trees from fire."
