Just got a question?

Is the U.S. Government backing this project at all? It seems to me that the expansion of the locks will allow larger ships to pass threw the locks and I would think that would increase tonnage and the revenue that the canal would be receiving from the charge of using the canal. Also I can see the U.S. Navy wanting this to go forward since they in the future would not be stuck behind the current size restriction of the ships they now have. I mean the U.S. Navy does not build any ships larger then what they can fit in the canal.

I am thinking that this project might be bigger then we all think. And the backing of this is huge. The U.S. Government gave up the control of the canal but do not be fooled the U.S. Government has a very large influence in the canal since it is vital to our national security. And that means more money for the companies involved in this project. Just my feelings. I might be totally of my rocker.
