You raise excellent points as to how they may wiggle out again...

As for bankruptcy, I'm thinking of private companies who are creditors, with a bankruptcy proceeding allowing them to almost fully deduct the loss as opposed to increasing the reserve for bad debt... while they may have been adjusting the latter, a bk would permit their accountants to increase the charge-off almost entirely. As opposed to public companies which like to show profits, private ones prefer to show less (hide) profit...

It takes just one fed-up creditor with a past due bill of e.g., $250K, to say the heck with it, we want payment in full now or we're going to court.

Perhaps Sphere is making small payments here and there to get them to play along but have to think by now, all creditors know they are doomed to cents on the dollar, if any (no pun intended or maybe )
