I'd call it a "complex restructuring," considering a US based company whose primary operations are in a Canadian subsidiary with another as support, filing for Chapter 11, later transitioned to Chapter 15 to allow the CCAA to do the bulk of the work. Then a SISP to attempt to do some sort of restructuring, reorganization, refinancing, or maybe sell the whole company, but that fails and they enter liquidation, which, of course was successful. Toss in 190 creditors to address, accounts receivable to collect, bills to pay, leftover inventory, tools, and spare parts to sell off, etc.

The label isn't inaccurate, but that doesn't mean that the results of it can be ignored: BioAmber is now an out of business, empty, debt ridden shell.
