Ask vs. Bid. Believe this is all driven by demand and how badly you want the shares...aka market dynamics. If demand is high and you place an order at the bid, very doubtful you'll get it. If you really want the shares you'll place an order at the ask.

The role of the investor is to buy as low as possible...however you can be short sighted and d*ck around with a bid order, watch it take off and you Mr. Investor didn't get your shares.

Want the shares...place ask order and move on.
