I have to admit that I did not. These are well placed shares with people who are most probably connected or else there would be a public market for these warrants, right?

If I'm wrong, so be it, but the operation of shorting against a long position with deep in the money warrants works the same way....like a short against the box, so it's a "possible tactic" that might be used.

Not everyone needs to exercise today to establish a time holding period, some like the concept of selling stock short (if they can obtain shares to short) and buying back on drops. Just look at the price levels...we've tried to break 9 at least 5 times and in each case there has been a decline in price, once with a 1 pt drop another with almost 3 points, and out latest is worth about 50 cents, easy.
