Thought I'd make a special guest appearance to comment about Clipstream.

I'm of the opinion that the problem with its business plan was that it was attempting to be the universal cure for cross platform transcoding costs for all machines everywhere. Which was always such an impossible lift that everyone but Steve realized it was a joke.

Where Clipstream might have succeeded and maybe in a big way, would have been to be customized to individual company's needs. Let's say Ford Motors wanted to make training videos and have them available to employees on all devices. We might have been able to come in and work with them to tailor Clipstream to that end and save Ford a bunch of money on transcoding for that project. Etc.

Again, alas, no one asked my opinion then, or is asking, now. Honestly, I got out of DSNY a while back, too much opportunity cost going down the drain, here.
