I am construction contracting business owner, and I can say, is true quality firms DO NOT use Home Depot or Lowes to build or repair with. We use national lumber groups who have far better product and prices for the contracting world. But I still use Home Depot to order doors and windows perhaps (high end ones as they are only vendor in Hickory, NC area for certain mfgrs) and consider HD over Low any day. And in the climate we have today, I do not see a need for both Lowes and Home Depot to be out there, as they carry the same exact product lines pretty much... One of them will disappear in my opinion over time.

Knowing Ellison is now CEO at Lowes, and seeing what he did to JCP, I am betting HD will survive overall...
