Why do people think this is a thing? It’s not true. Do you think Piper Jaffray is just a guy in a basement? They are an institution.

I too believe this is a real thing.

There is a difference in initiating coverage in a stock, and buying shares for your hedge fund. Those deep pockets are the institutions that wont touch us until we join NASDAQ.
