Copper-containing titanium nitride films were fabricated on commercial stainless steel using hybrid processes combining dual magnetron sputtering. The objective of this work is to obtain antibacterial surface properties through copper doping for consumer products

It's a possibility Titanium Nitride coatings could yield the same antimicrobial capability. Such as a decay process similar but yielding Titanium dioxide films as the byproducts. Here they're doping with copper to impart the antibacterial effect with the durability of a titanium nitride coating. Possibly irrelevant depending on what your intentions are with this line of thought process.
