Something that is also interesting could be noted and might be relevant is the application of marine grade plywood then fiber glassing with polyester resin and fiber glass cloth. Then applying a indoor/ outdoor carpet glue and outdoor carpeting. This seems like a standard process in design of carpeted boat decks. In application this immediately grew mushrooms from the carpet, due to the humid environment combining this with a boat cover to create an optimal environment for wood loving mushroom growth. these mushrooms must be consuming the outdoor rated carpet glue as a food source as there's no way to penetrate or utilize the fiberglass and resin layers to the wood core thus compromising the structural integrity of the deck. The carpet is then used as a water containing medium for mycelium growth.

Premium marine carpet does include a rubber backing that would mitigate unsightly mushrooms popping out of your boat carpet. But this is premium. Boat manufacturers will opt for the lower grade of non backed carpet. Since main stream hardware stores only offer a non backed out door carpet there must be other applications beyond boat decks where the issue could arise in situations that create an optimal environment for mushroom growth. Whether temporary or permanent.

Thus an overlooked issue is left unmitigated creating opportunity.
Imagine as a new boat owner plopping down $50k on your new boat and shortly having mushrooms grow out of the carpet. Potentially exposing the corners cut not using a carpet with a backing implying low quality craftmanship and leaving an unhappy customer either way.
With a mushroom issue.

When this issue could be easily resolved with a doping of an antimicrobial agent into the outdoor carpet glue. I imagine the go to for a doping agent is Copper sulfate pentahydrate due to cost. But would this leach a blue color staining into the carpet? This seems like low hanging fruit. Money just sitting there waiting for the taking on unfiled patent royalties for a superior outdoor carpet glue no matter what element makes it antimicrobial to prevent mushroom growth and mitigate potential structural damage due to wood decomposition from mycelium when applied to wood structuring.
