Senator Rand Paul had part of his lung removed over the weekend due to damage from the politically motivated assault by his neighbor in 2017.

Senator Paul was attacked by his neighbor Rene Boucher while he was mowing his lawn and suffered six broken ribs.

“Unfortunately, I will have to limit my August activities. Part of my lung damaged by the 2017 assault had to be removed by surgery this weekend. The doctors, nurses, & staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center were great. I should be able to return to the Senate in September,” Senator Paul tweeted on Monday.

Speaking to the Gateway Pundit, Senator Paul’s Chief Strategist Doug Stafford declared that the condoning of political violence must stop.

“The hatred and even outright condoning of violence needs to stop. Political disagreement shouldn’t ever — ever — lead to violence. And people online should never be laughing, condoning or even inciting as we have seen all too often,” Stafford said.

Just last week Rep. Ilhan Omar retweeted vile sentiments from actor Tom Arnold on Monday, justifying the violent attack on Senator Paul.

Arnold had tweeted, “imagine being Rand Paul’s next door neighbor and having to deal with Rand Paul lying cowardly circular whiney bullcrap about lawn clippings. No wonder he ripped his toupee off.”

“It was nice of her to provide even more evidence that she is a person with vile, anti-American beliefs and values, who apparently also supports violence for political disagreements,” Senator Paul’s Chief Strategist Doug Stafford told the Gateway Pundit, in response to Omar’s vicious retweet.

Boucher’s attorney claimed that the attack by his leftist client was not politically motivated and was part of a longstanding feud, but Senator Paul’s office disputed his claim.

“There was no ‘longstanding dispute.’ This description is untrue,” a spokesman for Paul told Fox News in 2018. “It is impossible to have a dispute when no words of disagreement were ever spoken — neither immediately nor at any other time before the attack occurred.”

Boucher plead guilty to a federal charge of assaulting a member of Congress last year and was sentenced to 30 days in prison, one year of supervised release, a $10,000 fine and 100 hours of community service.

Senator Paul was also awarded over $580,000 in damages.
