Some of the byproducts of this quick breakdown can be toxic.
Toxic as in your liver may shut down is not something I'd want to experience.
It is not just sunlight. It is ambient light from light fixtures, too. I see clear bottles at retailers sitting for weeks in the retailer's full-brightness lights. Simple opacity to reduce light is not good enough. Hopefully the FDA will enact more requirements to protect consumers from toxic CBD product. Unfortunately for now, CBD in food, drink, or supplements is illegal without formal FDA approval.
I didn't write the study, but believe companies peddling the CBD water/drinks need to use abundant care to protect the product. PURA does not appear to be doing this.
Oxygen also causes degradation, and the product almost immediately starts this breakdown of CBD after the bottle opens and some starts with the O2 that is already in the bottle.
Some may start to use cans, which helps avoid light CBD breakdown, but not O2 breakdown. But, CBD in water remains basically useless.
