My only concern here is..

that they actually complete the deal but take too long to confirm it, and then THE BIG ONE happens and makes everything meaningless.

They just had the 6.4 & 7.1 jolts inland, the southern end of the San Andreas has been locked & loaded for years, and now there has been some interesting action along zones neighboring the Hayward-Rogers Creek fault this past week. Hope any news comes before a big quake.
