In 1979 WTID call letters were changed to WTJZ with a new Jazz format from a C&W. The T in WTJZ for TOD their son and the J for their daughter JOY. Joy Rene Smith. The station today is called JOY Radio with a Gospel format.

When Wolf was a teen he hung out at WNJR in New Jersey not Newport News and definitely not in New Harvest You Understand. NJR for New Jersey.

This Wolf (me) use to hang out at WNOR. NOR for
Norfolk in Virginia. The difference in WNJR and WNOR is the J and O. My daughter ‘s middle name is JO and Wolf’s daughter is JOY. In the late 90’s the station changed its call letters from WNOR to WJOI. My daughters last name starts with I. JOI.

I We are now going to replace the I in WJOI with a Y. We now get WJOY. Wolf’s daughter’s name. It is also referred to JOY. In 2003 when I was living in Lancaster, Virginia I met the Postmaster. His name was Cliff JOYNER. I saw the SIGN in his last name and I started talking to him. He was from Norfolk, and during our conversation I mentioned that I had worked at WNOR, That is when he told me his grandfather started and owned WNOR in the late 40’s. Joyner. Breaking down JOYNER. Joy e ner If you place an e in the middle you get ENER. Spelled backwards it is RENE. JOY’s middle name is RENE.

I After leaving WTID in NewPORT News in 1962, the Wolf arrived to ShrevePORT, LOUisiana to KCIJ am 1050. If you recall, my mentor at WNOR Terry Steele left for Toronto Ontario to CHUM 1050. The same frequency as KCIJ. CIJ are my daughter’s initials. Cori Jo I......Now we are going to replace the I in KCIJ with an A. Now we end up with KCAJ. Spelled backwards it is JACK for Wolfman Jack. While at KCIJ the Wolf Took A trip to XERB across the border from DEL Rio, Texas. (DELoitte) This is when The Wolf took on the name Wolfman Jack.

X Wolf left Shreveport to go to KUXL in GOLDen Valley, Minnesota, outside of St. Paul and the home of Lucky Charms cereal. We will now replace an O in KUXL and we get KUOL which spelled backwards is LOUK.
