That is one of the fallacies surrounding Hydrogen.

More than 98% of the hydrogen used in Fuel Cells is made by reforming Natural Gas. In the process of reforming natural gas, CO-2 is produced is substantial quantities.

So in using Natural Gas as the source of H-2, Fuel Cells are neither Renewable or Green, nor economic.

And by adding the extra processing steps of reforming natural gas into Hydrogen, you are adding more costs making Fuel Cells uncompetitive to natural gas for power generation.
