Hard to believe that Frederick Banting led the successful discovery of insulin after returning home to Canada in 1919 the end of WW1 after serving in the Canadian Army Medical Corp. Discovered insulin in December 1921, their findings published in early 1922 in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, worked with Eli Lilly & Co in Indiana and received a U.S. patent in January 1923 and received the Nobel Peace Prize later in that year(1923).
