I posted this late last night, re-posting for more daylight eyeballs for input if any.

Okay, been with cnes some time now. keeping the monthlies as well. But this item I'm going to share with you all is at once perplexing and pissing me off.... I'm a camera operator/tech for the city of southfield, michigan and we do the monthly city council meetings with a live tv production broadcast. On my agenda copy, we use to follow the meeting for production, (this is public record, so I don't worry about posting this) under 'consent agenda' section is this item ... "Ca--a. approval to purchase meter reading devices for the water and sewer department. Action Requested: Authorize the purchase of 1,122 radio reading devices, maintenance and repair parts and software, from Hughes Supply, Inc of cleveland, ohio as sole vendor without competitive bidding, for a total amount not to exceed $60,490.00. .....
Isn't this what cnes is trying to sell??? Why are other companies already getting these contracts and cnes isn't? And... this was no bid... which isn't supposed to be done in a city anyways.... I'm worried because cnes has been schlepping around with their devices for over 2 years.... what's with that?
AAaand, what's with cnes discussing purchasing online entertainment venues.? They have money to do that, but not successfully market meter reading machines... I wish I hadn't seen that agenda, I was content in my ignorant bliss.
