China central bank working on national crypto currency of their own. Every nation will be in a race now to develop their own digital currency.

I think what Ripple is doing is engaging with the central banks and getting them setup with ripplenet so that when they form their own crypto currency, it will be on Ripples DLT and xRapid will be used to facilitate cross boarder remittances with their national crypto currency.
