So I just watched a video put out by an animal rights group saying that polyester and nylon are more humane and much better for the environment than silk. That is dumbest and most misinformed statement ever made by that organization. Microplastics from poly-based fibers are polluting our oceans and our water supplies and are doing damage to sealife, wildlife and even humans in ways we don’t even know yet. Silk is natural and breaks down. Plastics are deadly to animals and pollute the environment. Every time we wash plastic-based fibers, there is a little bit of shredding that takes place which puts that plastic in our water at levels we can’t even see. Don’t believe it when these people tell you plastic based fibers are better for the environment than silk. In my opinion, they are not until someone can prove to me that eating and drinking plastic is healthy. IMHO
