So, the scientists were working on this in the lab and decided to just "give it away." Lucky for us Mr. Thompson just so happened to be walking by while this "giveaway" was happening. Thank you kind scientists! Maybe that's why he bumbled his way in the beginning? He was shell-shocked the scientists would just give this away. No wonder he's so secretive and protective of everything. Probably worried they're going to say, "Psyche!" And just simply take it all back. I would be skeptical, too. But that's just me, I guess.
