I've never had much luck with the fall crop. Dad told me again the other day that he always planted fall potatoes...so...I'm going to try again.

I looked at a few seed catalogs and the prices are absurd for this time of year. I took the older potatoes out of the fridge, and cut them into pcs last night. Hardening is something I learned from this board. It helps keep them from rotting in the ground. I've been doing it the past few years, and it works very well. I've even found that the potatoes will sprout more eyes when they dry out. Simply cut them in more pieces and I end up with more taters!


This is a pic of last night's cutting. Putting them on cardboard or newspaper helps them dry out. I've read to leave them there for 3-5 days. This spring, the weather turned cold after I cut them, and they lasted 2 weeks without damage.
