Hey GFP, Hobby only, actually the only quake I ever felt was up on the Bucks co line, small 2.1. I was lying on couch of third floor apt. and felt what I can only describe as a light wave from head to feet, noted the time and the next day the paper said a small 2.1 had hit at that exact time, so I am guessing that is what I felt.

That one you mentioned that hit VA, actually hit in Mineral, VA, a small sleepy town, one that my uncle, now passed, called home. He actually lived on Lake Anna up there, rented a plane decades ago after a life in military and cia, and flew around that lake, found the perfect spot, found the farmer who owned the land and would not sell any to anyone, but he got to like my Uncle and his service record, and sold him an absolute beautiful spot that stuck out on one of the curves to that lake, he built a lake house there with some of the nicest views I have ever seen.

The whole reason lake Anna is there is because they have a huge nuke plant at one end. When the quake hit I asked if he was worried, and he said no, they built that thing like brick s__t house. Ha, I was not as kind. Anyway, that was the quake that cracked the Washington Monument, a lot further away than the nuke plant, ha.

Anyway, my take on them is that they normally follow a path of where the plates go all the way through the crust. Usually statrs with deep quakes around the globe, 200+km, normally just above NZ, and spread out from there, putting pressure on the underside of the plate and causing forecastable havoc around the pacific plate, volcano's as well, nut it's all pressure related, how much is coming round, not always right, but I seen hundreds of forecasts become fact. Pro's, Phd's, ect. don't like it much, but now after a decade of them being shown how they progress, even the usgs, who got 900 million tax dollars last year, and keep a lot of info from public, like passwording databases, no reports of quakes to speak of in OR for years now, have published paper saying it is true.

They tried and are still trying to destroy one guys rep, who basically is a savant in pattern recognition, found it using usgs and emsc databases, plotted on something called Earthquake 3d, and using google earth as well. Really nerdy stuff. I loved it, ha.
