Two moments stand out; decryptor and GooglePlay app.

de la Garza used to brag about the decryptor. Turns out, Al Carlson's students had either scammed him or conspired with him to "make up" an app that tried to look like it was decrypting data. After some analysis, it was proven to be a hoax. Michael talked about it like it was a finished product.

Before that was the GooglePlay app. He told many people that it would sell like hotcakes, and thought for sure it would generate a few million in sales the first month. The reality? It sold a handful of copies to de la Garza and a few naive people.
