From here I have found a few quotes I find particularly enlightening and on topic pertaining to the philosophy of medicine.

We do not antagonize nature nor interfere in the elaboration of physiological processes; on the contrary, her efforts are supplemented and complemented. After art has exhausted its resources in attempts at cure, do we not know that it is nature that becomes at last the real, the supreme healer? It is to be apprehended that amid the contentions of the various schools of medicine in their struggle for supremacy and popularity, this generally accepted fact has been largely lost sigh of, or its importance minimized. That system is likely to be most efficacious that aims to assist but does not attempt to supersede, the natural method of cure. page 33

We cannot successfully usurp by the artificial agencies at our command, natural functions or processes of repair, but may, at times, facilitate and assist them by removing obstacles from the pathway of cure. PAGE 34..(drops a train analogy)

How does this pertain? In bio compatibility of silicon in the bone. Since silicon is found naturally in the bone. When a Spinal fusion surgery is performed this isn't what cures a patient. A spinal surgeon left to his own devices. Without nature. Without the natural healing process would be doing more harm than good; given any material. Perhaps glue is the exception here.

The spinal cord is practically an elongation of the brain...As a matter of fact it is a continuous brain throughout its entire length. PAGE 91

Never thought of this that way. Mind blown. A unique insight worth noting.

What this is discussing is using vibratory stimulation on spinal nerves to effect various corresponding organs and processes through constriction and dialation. Exansion and contraction. Specifically blood vessels and muscles but also the overlooked lymphatic system using a medical vibrator.

But why the spine? to effect the signal? Why not go directly to the organ affected? like a back massage? Or the brain? I see this mans vibratory stimulation and raise him electrical.

This looks to be an entirely lost medical profession. Lost to the age of easily transported mechanical vibrators.

However, it became very popular with Victorian and Edwardian women, who sought to acquire personal devices and transport it from the surgery to the room of their choice.

Like with most medical equipment. This may benefit from the addition of the antimicrobial properties of silicon nitride to ward off infection. Possibly lowering damages of lawsuits for the manufacturer on lawsuits of claims devices led to the transmission of a drug resistant super bug.
