Total knew they could most likely negotiate with ERHC regarding blocks 5,6, and 9...but either chose not to...or did not like the terms. In blocks 7, 8, and 11 they have the chance to find partners that will all pay their own share of the costs whether oil is found or not. ERHC can not participate in that kind of arrangement.

Blocks 2, 3 and 4 have already be explored. I would not want to be the CEO that said he had decided to do more drilling in blocks that had been explored with no commercial oil found unless there is some new breakthru technology that can accurately identify highly potential oil.

So I don't see much potential of any deals in the JDZ for ERHC unless someone in a nearby block actually finds commercial oil. And who knows how far out that could be?
