Due diligence vs. opinions?

When the CEO of Mexus has a habit of fibbing to investors (i.e. MarMar), how can one rely on what he says, either in person or in PRs? "Due diligence" goes flying out the window.

Do your own research, use third-party sources, and don't buy into the hype.
