RD I apologize for using a meaningless expression in the last post. What I wanted to say is that you revealed the real but up to now hidden implications of the situation. If something is to be agreed by two parties and the status quo is extremely beneficial for one of the parties that party will not if it acts rationally agree to a change unless the other party is in a position to force it to accept a situation that is less favorable.
