When you think about it, promotions are senseless for established companies or start ups, or anything in between. The only time promotions might be legitimate is pre IPO. Anything after that really has no bearing on the company's bottom line as the company cannot sell shares directly to the public. Outside of real legit offerings, promotions mean one thing and one thing only: dilution.
