Oh please do you think our joint chiefs would let over 200,000 soldiers die when Japan was neutered? Of course there were plans drawn up hell plans are drawn up for almost everything including alien invasions from outer space.

Japan went to Moscow to start peace talks and Truman knew that so there would be no invasion of Japan unless you think we have zero value for our own soldiers live.
