Attorney Nick Gutierrez, who represents several families residing in the United States and Spain, said that other litigation of Cuban-American claimants - including collective lawsuits - is being prepared for the coming weeks.

"I am working with dozens of people affected by the expropriations, and many law firms are offering to offer the services without initial costs to facilitate the plaintiffs' options," Gutiérrez told CiberCuba .

Lawyers for Rivero Mestre LLP have also traced the lawsuit to Cuban government officials who were involved in the hotel operation agreement with Meliá.

"We believe they have assets outside of Cuba and we intend to find those assets," Rivero said.
