My take on the CBD aspect and FTEG. The FDA meets on the 31 of May to establish clearer rules on Hemp, CBD, and Cannabis. They want to control everything as usual. I suspect its mostly about the big drug company's influence, worried they will miss out due to the natural aspect of the plant(s) and often no patents. Hemp, got the green light with the farm bill, and removed from the narcotics list too. The seeds, hulls, and stem are safe for food (much like flax seed, but super high in protein and Omega 3).The flowers and leaves of the hemp that contain less than .03% CBD is what seems is up for grabs. They (FDA) "claim" there is not enough evidence to insure it is safe (which I believe is total BS). I can understand they want to insure the quality of the product and anything harmful is not part of the extraction.

The FDA must be under a lot of pressure though, to allow the reasonable nationwide sale of CBD products. The President is for it, the Congress is for it, major retailers and drug chains are for it, and the vast majority of people. I suspect we will get some favorable version passed. Discussions will probably run most of June, with decisions by early summer, IMO. Although, I see many major retailers already selling the CBD infused products across the country without issue. It should be mentioned that FTEG is also using parts of the plant in products that need no further approval, to include hemp oil without CBD. There appears to be a large nationwide support for the products.
