As more and more anticipated announcements are made and are met with no or worse still negative reaction (today for example), a unique market phenomina will begin to permiate the stock led by those who are most who vocal. It is referred to as the "squeeky cheeks" syndrome as they begin to question their own blind enthusiasm. Maybe the market is not so dumb afterall.
