Well, you know what the intent was just prior to 2008. A well planned scam would have some contingencies in the background should the initial ploy not be successful. Why would holding Fannie and Freddie in constant limbo not be a strategy when the first volley failed? Keeping them with minimal capital and nationalized until the next crisis comes along will surely develop failure at that time. Isn't that what these criminals wanted all along so they could get all the pieces? And yes, elements of the Trump administration are up to their eyeballs in this mess too.
