The market is not one investor. It's a world of investors with different opinions and motivations for buying and selling. That's why prices fluctuate up and down. When one side is weightier ( more volume) than the other the px moves in that direction. Trends are established and trends are followed, indicators are given and selling or buying feeds on itself.

Direction changes, trends reverse as perception changes. This usually occurs as news, one way or the other, is expected that will reverse it, or news is released to do so.

The "market" determines px and direction and the "market" is the sole arbiteur of where a stock goes. The market determines the Technicals by the way the investors trade. Fundamental news then is either perceived or occurs to confirm or refute the market. The market reacts to it.
