09:01 AM EDT, 04/29/2019 (MT Newswires) -- Shares of Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp. (SOLO) climbed nearly 8% in pre-market trading Monday after the electric vehicles manufacturer said it has been awarded a patent in China for the design of its proprietary battery cartridge.

The patent is valid for 10 years from the filing date and covers Electra Meccanica's proprietary battery cartridge design. The patent in China expands upon battery cartridge patent registrations in Europe, Japan and Canada, with another patent pending in the US, the company said.
