You are right. silicon panels are tuned to sunlight but 42 percent of the solar light hitting the Earth is IR. QDSC can be tuned to an array of light and predominant weather at a specific longitude and latitude. Theoretically, you might want straight IR and UV QDSC at the Poles** but more day sunlight absorption in Panama. Costa Rica has 12 microclimates. A QDSC Factory there could produce different solar absorption cells, in rotation based on demand, just by changing the mixture of QD.

Hawk, that messes up the possibility of comparing "who has the best solar" but if you want the best solar for your geographic situation, you don't want "one size fits all", you want to customize to your needs, because that is best for you.

Besides, it's really all about LCOE - lowest cost of energy, and R2R mass production at hundreds of meters per minute makes that question moot even if QDSC are at a lower energy efficiency.

** Six months of the year! But then you switch them out with the sunlight QDSC Cells for the next six months. Boy, you would really need a sun tracker there for maximum benefit as the sun rotates around the sky!
