Microsoft to support both AMD, Intel 64-bit chips

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - News) on Tuesday announced a version of its Windows XP operating system for Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s(NYSE:AMD - News) new Athlon 64 processor and said it would also develop an operating system for an eventual 64-bit desktop chip from Intel Corp.(NasdaqNM:INTC - News)
